Spring arrives just in time to shake off the frosty shackles of winter. #IngressFS in Chicago this month finds us in Hyde Park. Hyde Park sits on the South Side along Lake Michigan, and it carries the rare distinction of feeling like a neighborhood, a campus, and a small independent city all at once. It is anchored by the University of Chicago, which gives the area a constant background radiation of ideas, architecture, and people.
The buildings lean Gothic, the streets are lined with trees that look like they have seen things, and the whole neighborhood hums at a frequency that feels slightly out of step with the rest of the city in a way that is difficult to quantify and even harder to ignore.
On May 2nd Agents will fill the winding park passages, XMPs bursting in air. Nothing like the smell of XM in the spring.
Got Wood?
As if IFS isn't already exciting enough, it just so happens that the 2026 Chicago Beaver Festival is in Nichols park at around the same time. Agents are advised that while things won't likely get too dam busy, the Beaver Festival might make navigating the park a little harry. There will be a number of exibits in the park, if you are beaver curious this month's First Saturday is perfect to whet the beaver appetite. If you have time to spare, shave some for the beavers. First Saturday Starts at 1:30pm
As always meet at the Base Portal at 1:30pm for the required picture. Make sure to check in an submit your stats to the bot. Make sure you join the event channel on telegram, it's the best way to stay up to date on any changes, and the only way to find out where the beers are coming from afterwards.
