Community Spotlight: Two Recursions, One Very Long Day

Most agents treat recursion as a milestone you plan for weeks, maybe months. Hit L16, reset, rebuild, repeat. Last weekend, longtime agent Gordog looked at that loop and asked a simple question: what if I didn’t wait?

Taking advantage of the recent limited-time 8× AP bonus, Gordog set out to do something rarely attempted in Ingress: recurse twice in a single day.

The plan involved heavy prep, stacked portals, battle beacons, and a lot of careful timing. The execution involved...well, Ingress. Fields went up and came down. Opposing agents interfered. Gear vanished faster than expected. Somewhere in the middle, there was even time to attend an Ingress First Saturday meetup, because apparently this wasn’t busy enough already.

At one point, the numbers suggested a third recursion might be possible. Reality (and a recursion cooldown) disagreed. Two successful recursions would be the final count, still placing the day firmly in “things you don’t see often” territory.

The full write-up is a fun mix of planning, improvisation, and classic Ingress chaos. It’s not a how-to guide so much as a reminder of what happens when bonuses align, preparation pays off, and an agent decides to see how far the mechanics can bend. Worth a read if you enjoy stories from the far edge of the AP grind.
