+Beta Buildup Battles: Be Brave

Bravery is needed sometimes where you wouldn't think.

What's to be afraid of?

I want the gold medal, I have lots of beacons. It's a beacon, you just deploy it, right? Should I be afraid of putting it down on the wrong portal? You just put it down, fill up the slots with resos, and sit back for those sweet sweet +Beta tokens. Three at a time, booyah!

Like a lot of these global challenges, these events are made to be worked on by more than one Agent at a time. These things are made to be done with friends.

I know, that poses an issue for me too. So what do we do? We be brave. Get people together. Invite them. If you don't know anyone in your area, reach out in the comms. Tell your local RES what time and where you are going to deploy. Tell your local frog. Get on Telegram, do the same, repeat. Make sure your local Agents know that you can be there to bump the portals up.

At the time of my writing I am seeing CAT I victories on intel in a nearby park.

I took a couple of years off from Ingress. In that time, in my region and in others as far as I have seen, something happened to the social scene. A city wide knife fight? A round of "Yo mama" jokes so fierce nobody could bear one another's sight ever again? A terrible curse that if anyone ever talked again.....? Reality is that people got mad at each other, then instead of working it out they kept getting more mad. Then everyone encouraged their friends to be mad, and soon enough nobody was even playing anymore because the air had become toxic.

My region is probably not much different than yours. This has happened before, why should we let it happen again? Agents, the past is the past. There are obviously issues that are more difficult than just wanting them to go away, but they won't until we look at them, as a community and figure them out. Blue and Green. RES and ENL. This is our community, all of us. Community is messy, but Community is powerful.

So be brave. Be bold. Be bothered. Maybe be bored. It's time we do something. We have to try to get people getting together. When some people just plain suck as people as they often do a whole community response is the best repose. Unified we stand against bullshit. Divided we are all on our own. It is both far more complicated and just as easy as this, but I am tired of seeing this community as is. I can't be the only one.

Our community should look for opportunities to unite, not obstructions. When we find obstacles we should work together to overcome them. Ingress is not a game, it is a lifestyle. Together we can make it a lifestyle for everyone, but it will take the work of kindness, and patience; We will have to be dedicated to finding solutions to problems. We have to remember that at the end of the day we are all aiming at the same sort of goal and work at it together; We will need to be brave.
